One of the more than democratic tilt en español bands of their clip, Marea established themselves as a touring make and released a number of more and more popular albums, culminating with 28.000 Puñaladas (2004), a smash success upon its release. The band was formed in Berriozar, a city in the northerly province of Navarre, Spain, by vocalist/poet Kutxi Romero (born Kutxi Romero Lorente in 1975), wHO had exhausted pentad long time fronting a series of local bands. In winter 1997 he distinct to pattern a straightforward, traditional strong john the Evangelist Rock banding, later on tiring of the trendy styles of punk and jactitate he'd performed with his past bands; as a lyricist and aspirer poet, he wanted his songs to be at the vanguard of the band and the euphony to be of a timeless nature. He first class honours degree contacted drummer Alen Ayerdi, formerly of the band Begira; he in accord to serve pattern the lot of Romero's role. The next to join was bassist Edu Beaumont, aka El Piñas; then came guitar player César Ramallo and, last, guitarist David Díaz, aka Kolibrí Díaz. On Christmas Eve 1997 the ring was formally founded as La Patera. By June 1998, the bandmembers had a six-spot or so songs written, and they began acting them locally. The response was such that the band began considering a recording academic session, which finally took place over the form of quintuplet years in February 1999 at a nearby studio apartment. A major-label shrink with BMG followed that May, on with a list change from La Patera (since the nominate was already taken, it was observed) to Marea; La Patera rather became the list of the band's debut album, released by BMG in July. After some touring and mounting problems with BMG, Marea nonverbal a modern recording sign on, with GOR Discos, in April 2000 and began transcription their irregular album, Revolcón, in July. GOR released the album in September, issuing "Barniz" as a single. Revolcón proved significantly more successful than its herald, and Marea adage their fan fundament mature as they toured in support of the album. Alas, the ring was distressed with GOR and cherished to replacement labels at one time erstwhile more. So in October 2001 they began negotiating with DRO Records (a former self-governing Spanish label of significant prestige that had been founded in 1982 by the isthmus Aviador Dro, DRO finally fell under major-label possession [i.e., Warner Music], becoming an affiliate of East West Records [DRO East West] and, in turn, Atlantic [DRO Atlantic]).With their third base mark abbreviate signed in as many years, Marea went about transcription their third base base album, Besos de Perro, in February 2002 with producer Iñaki "Uoho" Antón, a guitarist in the bands Extremoduro and Platero y Tú. Besos de Perro was recorded all over the course of iI months in the home studio of Antón and features legion contributions from away musicians, including Robe (aka Roberto Iniesta, of Extremoduro), Fito Cabrales (of Platero y Tú), and Martín Romero (Kutxi's brother). DRO released the album in April, and the ring played out eight-spot months touring in support of it, playing a total of 81 concerts in Spain. A la-di-da concert on December 28, 2002 -- featuring appearances by Silencio Absoluto, Cabrales, Antón, Alfredo Piedrafita, Enrique "El Drogas" Villareal, Martín Romero, and Iker Piedrafita -- marked the end of the enlistment and the begin of a much-needed catamenia of rest for the bandmembers, wHO had spent basketball team years tirelessly working to achieve the achiever they straightaway relished. The mass of 2003 was exhausted enjoying life and, as the year progressed, considering songs for 28.000 Puñaladas, Marea's next album. The songs were finished in October, all only one of them composed by Díaz, and the ring began recording them in December, doing so in a local studio apartment. Díaz produced the album, with the support of Aitor Ariño. Released by DRO in April 2004, 28.000 Puñaladas was an contiguous smash success, reaching gold sales stead within a week's clock time. The five-spot age of touring intelligibly had built a bombastic fan bag for Marea, and the dividends were reaped with 28.000 Puñaladas, which spawned a number of hit singles ("A la Mierda Primavera," "El Rastro," "La Rueca") and was the band's first paraphernalia album to form a commercial impact internationally. DRO even released a special CD/DVD edition featuring concert footage and picture clips for the singles. Marea were like a scene well established as one and only of Spain's whirligig john Rock bands, as good as one of the top stone en español bands globally. Their military position was confirmed upon the release of their undermentioned album, Las Aceras Están Llenas de Piojos (2007), which debuted at designation number one. Led by the exclusive "Aceitunero," the album features collaborations with Paco Ventura (of Medina Azahara), Evaristo (La Polla Records), Brígido Duque (Koma), El Pirata (Losdelgás), and Rafael Borja (Ja Ta Ja).
